Fun with Vedic mathematics
Vedic mathematics is solving of mathematical problems with simple mathematical formula from the ‘Vedas’. The very word ‘Veda’ has this derivational meaning that is the fountainhead and illimitable store-house of all knowledge. This derivation, in effect, means, connotes and implies that the Vedas contain within themselves all the knowledge needed by mankind relating not only to the so called ‘spiritual’ matters but also to the means required by humanity as such for the achievement of all round, complete and perfect manner.
The Vedas, traditionally accepted in India as repository of all knowledge, should be and not what they are in human possession. That approach entirely turn the table on all critics, for the authorship of vedic mathematics then need not be laboriously searched in the text as preserved from antiquity. The Vedas are well-known as four in number Rig, Yajur, Sama and atharva, but they have also the four upavedas and the six vedangas all of which form an indivisible corpus of divine knowledge as it once as and as it may revealed. [The four Vedas as follows:
Rigveda
Samaveda
Yajurveda
Atharveda
Upaveda
Ayurveda
Gandharva veda
Dhanurveda
Sthapatyaveda
In the above given list the Upaveda of Sthaptya or engineering comprises all kinds of architectural and structural human endeavour and all visual arts. Most of formulas is taken from the part of Parishta of Atharvaveda for the students from higher secondary to the engineering levels.
Each suthras (mathematical) formula in these Parisishtas has their individual excellence in solving problems in simple form. The students will be filled with fun to solve the problems in an easier and faster way than the calculators if they unravel the Pandora’s Box of Vedic mathematics. There is no doubt that man made - calculators and computers and the vice versa.
