Renault Clio will be the new small car on the eve the most awaited Indian Grand Prix. The company plans to put the car on the roads by early stages of 2012. The car is expected to be a family hatchback and the first look can be expected ahead of the opening race on October 30th.

Renault and Nissan chairman CEO Carlos Ghosn will start the honors of unveiling the car which is expected to be showcased at Delhi Auto Expo in January next year. The company believes that the Formula 1 will be the perfect launch pad for car maker’s effort to advertise the upcoming small car Renault Clio. Renault has been on a war footing since its break down with Mahindra & Mahindra and since then has launched two new products in to the Indian market.

The company seems to have well thought out approach for the auto market. They have cars that suit all the consumer classes. Renault has a top-down approach which is proved by the fact the company has launched two premium car that include the Renault Koleos crossover and the Renault Fluence sedan. The car maker, with the new small car will be hoping to generate volumes. The Renault Clio is looked upon as an arch rival to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Nissan Micra.

Renault is looking to use its popularity and the reach of Formula 1 and in turn leverage it to promote their upcoming car. The Formula 1 Team of the Renault has been doing fairly well in the 2011 season.

The move from Renault also stem from the fact that now the demand is now shifting towards small cars in the Indian market. The Renault Clio hatchback is the newbie to the very crowded, ultra competitive segment of the Indian car market.
Renault India made it clear during the 2010 Auto Expo that it was all set to launch the Fluence Sedan and Koleos Crossover in India during the 2011 and has already kept its promise. Now it has made the fog clear on launch of the hatchback Clio in India.

“The idea behind Ghosn coming to India for the compact car is to generate the excitement around the vehicle,” a source said. “Formula One will give the biggest platform for the launch. Renault has been associated with F1 for a long time.”
