Your Cab Ride is assigned to a driver named RAMESH but the DRIVER that came was SURESH - Beware of Fake ID drivers
Hope most of you heard about recent incident in Bangalore. A lady had boarded a Ola cab and on the way to airport from Indiranagar, Bangalore.
Here's the news:
Ola molestation case: Cabbie used fake ID
Bengaluru woman ‘kidnapped’ by drunk Ola driver, quick thinking saves her
Ola driver arrested for kidnapping airport-bound woman
She noticed the cab guy looking at rear view mirror more than usual. So warning next time you book a cab, especially late hours, just a keep an eye, dont just ignore and chat or be on call. Be alert but dont panic.
Coming to the point, yes it turns out true, suddenly cab guy starts to drive fast and wanted to change route. Cab got slowed at Airport high way toll gate.
She banged the windows, luckily people around saw, stopped the cab and rest is in news.
But main point is the person driving was not the owner of the car nor the driver who was shown on the app. This means the driver who picked her up was someone else different from the person who was assigned the ride in the app.
So one more loop hole or rather scope for improvement. Offcourse mostly the driver who is on your Ola app is your driver.
But in this case owner had given the car to other person.
So message is clear, if you are taking a ola uber cab, ask for or see if driver and owner of car is same.
I know its not possible, but if its a single lady, late night, dont take cab, if driver hesitates or argues.
Sooner or later if 7 out of 10 passengers ask drivers. They will agree. If they dont, cancel ride, sooner or later Ola Uber will implement some rule.
It's simple, if its not the driver you see in your Ola Uber app, don't take the ride.
Its ok, if you get late, but dont forget the larger picture, and anyways its mostly if your travelling lone and at night or a new place.
Plus sooner or later, this issue is something will be solved if its raised as its not big deal for the companies to implement.
Request to all concerned authorities:
For eg: you see the auto drivers license on back of seat, so similarly hope we get the same sticker to be put in cabs as well on the windshield inside. So passengers know who is owner, or if driver is different from owner.
Offcourse, in this incident even the owner of cab was called by police.
Police to question owner, driver who gave Ola cab to kidnapper
So there is scope for owner not being careful to whom he gives his car.Later owner can just say i was not aware. So there must be some rule where owners of cab take responsiblity while giving cars to drivers.
I know this might be open to suggestions, critique or debate, which is good.
But what i want to point is a concern, which has all the makings of a big incident. So the post...
