As per the Charles Darwin theory, today’s homosapien in its present avatar is the most advanced version and is supposed to be equipped with the best features. And if one were to buy the evolution theory, the humans are only to get stronger in the future.
So considering even though today’s environment is deteriorating the human body is only getting stronger but the truth is far from near.
The bottom line is the average life expectancy of today’s humans has nearly halved to what it was just a few decades ago. So then what is it that is causing the downfall of our health?
Earlier sickness was considered a sign of old age but today especially in the case of the (corporate) youth who are supposed to be in the pink of their health are topping the hit list of diseases.
Scientifically it is proven that only small percentage of our sickness is caused due to hereditary or physical vulnerability but the majority of our sickness is caused due to mental deterioration.
In fact medical research is seeing a direct link between diseases and stress. Some estimates say 40 - 80% of all visits to doctors may be directly related to stress. So it is the mental strength that has given way due to stress.
It is not to say that today’s offices or corporate houses are not neat and clean. If one were to keenly observe pattern of the sickness, they are mostly non contagious sickness but sickness as a result of work place stress.
If you are still not convinced just ‘Google’ for stress related diseases and compare it with the number of contagious diseases. The number of stress related diseases would out race the number of sickness caused due to contagious germs.
Also if one were to see under which category the sickness that you or the people you know have recently had most of them would be stress related sickness. And with more number of stress related sickness coming up, these are clearly dangerous signs considering that the stress related sickness is not even contagious but still it is the major cause of sickness in people which is mostly the youth, which is the prime age of one’s life.
All this coupled with a huge time span of our lives spent at the work place along with stress to perform or perish, which is inevitable, workplace stress makes a perfect recipe for stress related sickness.
So now that you realize that workplace stress is the cause of your sickness, what are you still reading on – just beat that stress.
• Hit your office gym
• Have a regular check up with your doctor
• Do some kind of fitness activity
• Have a balanced diet
• Having yourself suitably health insured also should keep you in good shape.
• Visit your nearest career counselor or your in-house counselor, if you have one.
