What is the treatment for swimmers ear?

Ayurvedic Ear Care

The classic Ayurvedic therapy for the ears is an integral part of a healthy daily routine. It is called Karna Purana – where medicated oil is dripped into the ears and the ears are then thoroughly massaged.

The ears are areas of high microbial concentration. We also know there are small bones in the inner ear called ossicles, which vibrate when hit by sound waves. These bones stimulate nerve endings that transmit signals to the brain to be interpreted. From the Ayurvedic perspective, the ear skin and the ossicles can dry out and function can be compromised. This is part of a vata imbalance in Ayurveda. Vata is a governing principle in nature akin to air, which, when aggravated, can dry the body out. Oil is the antidote for dryness in the body.

Once again, the key here, from the Ayurvedic perspective, is to care for your “orifices” throughout your life – and not just when they go out of whack. Karna Purana, or ear oiling, is meant to be a daily practice.

Ear Oiling (Karna Purana)

Conditions such as ringing in the ears, excess ear wax, poor hearing, lockjaw, and TMJ, are all due to vata in the ears.

Unless you know about Ayurveda or have access to it, i recommend you to use only SESAME OIL.

Infact, all sinus cavities, eyes, ears, nostrils, mouth all linked to each other. Hope you have seen videos of how people remove water from ears to nose, nose to eyes. This itself shows the connection between the all the points. So when there is sickness, blockage, infection etc. you feel the blocked nose, swimmer's eye problems, Throat infection or eye problems also. So basically, what i am trying to say is all the cavities, nostrils and ears must be clean and well lubricated regularly. Offcourse, most people are fine even without these remedies and today's doctors are completely against these kind of treatment and believe its harmful. However, if you go deep into what I am saying, you will know the truth.

Step 1: In the morning, using a dropper, fill the ear canal with warm nasya oil. You can do both ears at the same time.

Step 2: Close the ear flap and, using medium pressure, gently massage the ear canal by pressing on the ear flap in a circular motion. Continue this for one minute. If there is pain, stop, and have this checked by your medical doctor.

Step 3: Gently massage the cartilage of the ear (the whole ear) using the thumb and index finger, rubbing out any tender areas. Continue for one minute.

Step 4: Gently massage around the entire ear where the ear meets the skull. Gently massage out any tender or sore areas. Continue this for one minute.
