How can you prevent getting a stuffy nose during pregnancy?

You have to find whether its a chronic underlying condition. Once you find this take measures to improve your condition. Logic is simple, if everyone else Pregnant is not getting cold, then surely you have something wrong with you. So correct it.

Other is a acute condition, like just before you got on the plane, you caught a cold bug, or weather in the last few days has been rough or your diet and lifestyle went for a toss in the last few days, and finally you ended getting cold. For this again, you can take a lot of measures, like keep drinking something warm on the plane, be positive, probably dose off.

From what you are asking looks like you want a sure shot measure to work out for you and without much fuss and bothering. I would suggest you always carry few fresh basil(tulsi) leaves and chew them. I am from India, where we follow Ayurveda. Nothing to boast to about but if your just wondering about my answer. Search about Ayurveda and Tulsi leaves, only then you will realize the truth about my answer.

Don’t go for any packet tulsi powder from the nearest supermarket or any other measures. Keep it simple, somehow manage to get them and if possible grow them at your place. Have this for a few months and I assure you will never ever catch a cold. Off course, although there are no sideffects, i suggest you never cross the limits. Take only how much your body ( I repeat your body) says, dont get tempted by your greedy mind and take too much.

Basil leaves are known to slightly give anti-aphrodisiac effects on the person taking it. In our country that’s why we give it in the temples. Not only does the person become immune to diseases but also ensure he gets to control his sexual urges which is one of the biggest urges to control and in the process thereby lead to a better human being by focusing on higher goals. That’s how sensibly and thoughtful our ancestors thought. No stop gap measures. Everything was holistic ally thought and planned.

Again the answer may sound way off the question, but if you understand the context, you will know what I am saying.

In the long run if you have the time and patience and believe in holistic healing, then I would suggest you go for Yoga and practice breathing exercise also called Pranayam.

One of them is alternative nostril breathing (AnilomVilom) and With this technique you can surely rest assure you will not COLD but it will take around 6 months to 1 year. But life long you will be cured. You just have to find a right Yoga Guru and you have to increase the intensity of the breathing exercise as you start.

Also Neti Pot ( Please Google -Nasal irrigation), is excellent. It hardly takes 5 minutes everyday. It might be hard in the beginning but don't give up. Surely, if you get a Good Yoga Teacher he can help you in 3-6 months time.

This is my experience. Now I am just doing Neti Poti and I am fine but I have to do it religiously without missing.

Off late i also found something called Salt room therapy. While relaxing in one of treatment rooms, customers inhale the dry, salt-enriched air deep down into the lungs, where the healing benefits do their greatest healing. The salt loosens the mucus, which begins to clear quickly, and inflammation is reduced, which makes more room in the airways for you to breathe. Symptoms subside, sometimes for up to 12 months.

Dry salt air is more powerful than moist air. The negatively charged ions in salt improve our health and mood. Inhaling particles may reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs, improving most respiratory conditions such as asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinus congestion and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).

See if you have it nearby or see if you can customize, like use a nebulizer at home. BUT MAKE SURE YOU KNOW HOW TO PREPARE THE RIGHT SALT WATER OR SALINE SOLUTION. PLUS ENSURE ITS HYGENIC AND YOU HAVE CONSULTED A DOCTOR WHILE CUSTOMIZING YOUR SALT ROOM THERAPY USING A NEBULIZER AT HOME.
