Preferably you should keep a pillow extra but not strain your neck. So that sinus liquid drains downwards your throat. Your neck should always be upper compared to your rest of body. Comfort is most important. If pillow is too high you can get neck pain leading cervical Spondylitis
However, you can counter that pain with the below posture.
Once you wake up, just do this for 3–5 minutes. Make sure you don’t strain your neck or slip your neck. Preferably touch your forehead against a wall or soft structure.
